Level 3 MAPA® Trainer programme.
 
Trainers who complete the Level 3 MAPA® Trainer programme are taught to deliver a 1-day Personal Safety at Work course that includes risk assessment and risk management; verbal de-escalation and avoiding confrontation; legal and professional issues, and a specific range of physical ‘disengagement’ strategies. 
  
All Level 3 MAPA® Trainers must complete an annual 2-day update and re-assessment programme in order to safeguard standards of practice, and to renew their licence to practice. 
  
Applicants should be nominated by their employer with a clear commitment from their line manager to be released to deliver training.
  
In addition, it is desirable that applicants hold relevant qualifications and have experience of working with children, young people or adults who present challenging behaviour in the form of aggression and violence.
  
It is desirable but not essential that applicants have experience of training or teaching other staff.
